Join us this week to hear from Lisa Crossman, Deputy Director for Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) about local COVID-19 pandemic activities and the role of public health. Lisa and the CDPH staff have been on the front lines since February 2020 working 24/7 dealing with the outbreak. Lisa has been with CDPH since 1997 and has held several leadership positions. She is currently Deputy Director and also responsible for the Center for Community Health, which works to develop partnerships and resources to fulfill the CDPH strategic plan and the Cobb2020 and Live Healthy Douglas community health improvement plans. She and her team serve the community through the Family Health Management programs (e.g., Babies Can’t Wait, WIC, Children’s Medical Services, Safe Kids), Chronic Disease Prevention, Government Relations, and Development Office. Lisa is the Executive Director of the CDPH nonprofit affiliate, the Cobb & Douglas Health Foundation. Lisa has been helping residents reach optimal health, safety and well-being through individual wellness, physical rehabilitation and health policy efforts since 1982. She established several hospital and corporate-based wellness and rehabilitation centers in Florida and Georgia over the past 30+ years, including Wellstar’s Health Place, where she served as the inaugural Director from 1985-1997. Lisa is very active in the community and in addition to her work, she serves on the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Douglas Chamber of Commerce, the Cobb County Safety Village Foundation Board, Kiwanis Club of Marietta, and North Metro Church. She is also excited to now be involved with the Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre since the 2020 Dancing with the Stars Marietta event, where she and her dance partner, Sam Heaton won the “People’s Choice” mirror ball! She is married to Christopher and they have two daughters, Abbey (20) and Hannah (24).
